Position Overview

Student will assist staff or faculty in supporting the classrooms, labs, or departments. Duties may include, setting up, picking up, and checking-in classroom items for classes. May be requested to set-up audio/visual equipment, PowerPoint presentations, and/or computers for staff, faculty or students.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Responds to support requests submitted for the Old North classroom multimedia equipment and IT systems.  Demonstrates and assists users with technology services offered by UCO.  Performs basic troubleshooting of classroom multimedia and computing technologies.  Creates procedures and how-to information on Old North Technology.  Performs basic troubleshooting on Windows and Apple computers.  Installs software and configures computers to work in the UCO environment.


Qualifications/Experience Required

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate. Qualifications/Experience Preferred

Excellent verbal and written English skills. Great attitude with a strong desire to provide excellent customer service.  Ability to quickly absorb technical information and knowledge and apply it towards troubleshooting issues.  Ability to multitask and make effective use of available time.

Able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.  Able to work under desks or in cramped spaces.



Excellent communication skills both written and oral.  Detail oriented.  Required character traits: Dependability, thoroughness, and initiative.  Have sensitivity of intercultural communication, and have good interpersonal skills.


Physical Demands

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms.

Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
