Position Overview

Perform computer and customer service related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, scheduling appointments, and Microsoft Office experience.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Students should be current UCO undergraduate students, Mass Communication majors, and have made an 'A' in Fundamentals of Speech.  If students have taken additional classes that had a focus on public speaking, these courses and the grades earned should also be listed. Application should include the name of the instructor for Fundamentals of Speech and any other public speaking based courses, the student's comprehensive GPA, the GPA in the major, and the number of semesters studied. Must attend training as required, usually once per semester.

Qualifications/Experience Required

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate. Qualifications/Experience Preferred

Must have received an 'A' in Fundamentals of Speech.  Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, Work Study eligibility helpful.

Must handle confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.

Students should have excellent public speaking skills in audience analysis, topic selection, research, speech development, organizational structure, outlining, citing sources, verbal/nonverbal delivery elements, and multimedia for informative, persuasive, and commemorative speaking.


Excellent communicatoin skills both written and oral.

Detail oriented.

Required character traits: Dependability, thoroughness, and initiative.

Have sensitivity of intercultural communication, and have good interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms.

Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
