Prepare standard and specialized financial reports (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements. Compile and analyze financial information. Prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for local, national and private funding, contracts, and/or grants.
Analyses of inter fund transfers on a monthly basis reporting and rectifying any issues. Completes monthly bank reconciliations and related journal entries. Prepares monthly cash reconciliation report. Participates in the preparation of schedules and work papers related to annual internal and external audits. Maintain cash organization budget entries including transfers, and adjustments. Works with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities. Ability to review, understand, and verify the accuracy, of financial information. Organizes own work, sets priorities and meets critical deadlines Understands the need for maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Maintains a working knowledge of University processes for the preparation of the annual budgets, and proper recording of investment activity, gifts, receipts, payments and cash transfers. Knowledge of: generally accepted accounting practices and principles,governmental accounting practices and procedures and fund accounting. Performs other duties as required.
Requires a bachelor's degree accounting, finance or related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of three years' experience in accounting or financial analysis. Thorough understanding of business and accounting practices. Computer proficiency in word processing, accounting, financial and spreadsheet applications. Experience with auditing. Solid database skills and information systems management experience. Fund accounting or higher education experience.
Excel power user, Access, analytical thinker, 10 key by touch, 40 wpm typing, reconciliation experience, willing to work in a team environment.
