The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) strives to enhance learning, improve service and communication, and increase student, faculty, staff, and community access to useful information through the application of technology. Information Technology at UCO provides computing, networking, e-learning, telephone, training, and support services to students, faculty, staff and the University community.
Perform computer and customer service related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, scheduling appointments, and Microsoft Office experience.
Answers the UCO IT Service Desk phone and University Switchboard to assist the UCO community with technology-related issues and other miscellaneous questions. Transfers and directs incoming calls using a computerized database for information access. Keeps up to date on daily campus activities to respond to and provide callers with current campus activity information. Asks appropriate questions to obtain necessary information from callers and walk-up customers. Provides how-to instructions for various technology services, including UCONNECT and Desire2Learn. Performs basic UCONNECT account administration, including reactivating expired accounts. Responsible for creating and assigning tickets for requests, incidents, and problems received via phone, email, walk-up, and the online self-service portal The Service Desk will follow-up with tickets, and the follow-up will consist of contacting the customer by phone and/or email in order to obtain additional information and appropriately update the service tickets. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate. Experience working with Windows, Macintosh, iPhones, and Android devices. A high level of technical skills are not required, but prefer candidates understand the basics of troubleshooting and are able to intelligently work with clients on various issues. Seeking energetic team players who are able to function in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written English skills. Ability to type consistently at a rate of 30 words per minute or faster. Great attitude with a strong desire to provide excellent customer service and for continual improvement. Ability to quickly absorb and make effective use of knowledge related to technology services and other services provided by various UCO departments. Ability to multitask and make effective use of available time.

Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
