This student position requires heavy, physical and manual labor. This position may require moving furniture, working outside on grounds, and /or helping with preventative maintenance.
The facility monitor is responsible for the majority of cleaning in the cardio and weight room area and providing supervisors with information concerning equipment in need of repair or maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
Clean group fitness room before 8am and before 5pm M-F
Clean windows and mirrors daily in group fitness area, cardio area and free weight area
Vacuum cardio and fitness area daily
Empty trash as needed and take to dumpster daily
Clean equipment bases cardio equipment, strength equipment and free weight machines
Dust all hand rails and televisions daily
Spot mop fitness floor daily, mop track on Fridays
Check locker rooms for overflowing trash and remove as necessary.
Perform other various duties as needed or assigned by supervisor
Be familiar with all emergency action plans and first aid procedures (includes a current certification in CPR/AED).
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate. Experience with fitness center equipment repair and maintenance.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Required character traits: Dependability, thoroughness, and initiative.
Have sensitivity of intercultural communication, and have good interpersonal skills.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
