  • Position Overview

    Conducts audits and/or reconciliations, maintains accounts, remits payments, and prepares reports; may calculate liabilities and remittances. Maintains payroll and related records. May be responsible for payroll benefit deduction activities, including reconciliation, reporting, and compliance. Balance weekly and/or monthly payroll ledger, research exception items, and take corrective action. Work closely with technical support to implement process improvements, test system changes, and lead special projects within the payroll department.

    Department Specific Essential Job Functions

    • Audit and reconcile all payroll account codes
    • Maintain accurate records for collection and payments of payroll deductions
    • Submit rosters and process various vendor payments (including but not limited to: BCBS, Delta Dental, VSP, AllState, MetLife, Chard Snyder…)
    • Audit, reconcile, and submit payments for retiree benefits
    • Process misc. payroll & qualifying life event deduction changes
    • Assist with 941 reporting
    • Assist with processing Adjunct positions and various other payroll data entry as needed
    • Assist with processing all payrolls as needed
    • Backup for payroll presentations and training sessions
    • Backup for Open Books reporting
    • Back-up for creating and submitting payroll files to the Oklahoma Office of Management Enterprise (OMES), including a required journal entry in PeopleSoft and federal payments through Agency Check Entering System (ACES)
    • Research payroll inquires as needed
    • Provide excellent customer service and office assistance

    Qualifications/Experience Required

    Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field or 7+ years of payroll experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
