Delivers a comprehensive residential program in a system of students living on campus. Responsibilities include selection, training and supervision of student staff; providing guidance to students on academic and personal matters; promoting community development; advising hall council; addressing issues of student conduct; crisis response and management; participation in on-call/on-duty rotation and overall administration and operations of a residence hall. Additionally, Residence Hall Directors may be assigned to work with the Living Learning Communities, Housing Activities Council, Last Lecture Series and NRHH. Will serve/chair various departmental committees. Reports to the Assistant Director for Residence Life. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Develop, implement, and manage programs, services, and infrastructure for Residential Life and Housing, including activities with other university departments, contractors, and food services. Monitor service quality, satisfaction, safety, and compliance, and recommends improvements. Prepare and implement departmental and program or project budgets; participates in the planning process and policy development. Develop specifications for various services, repairs or renovations. Administer contracts and ensure compliance by all vendors. Provide assistance with the resolution of student and/or parent housing and residence life issues.

Kerr and James Tweedy from About Campusas their model and the Hall Director will assist in creating, implementing, managing, and assessing a comprehensive residential curriculum that focuses on students’ self-awareness, critical thinking skills, and participation in the UCO community.
The Hall Director’s overall responsibility is to create a learning-centered environment that is safe and secure for all students.
Uphold the role of a learning-centered educator.
Implement a residential curriculum focused on developing an awareness of self, critical thinking skills, and community participation.
Develop and facilitate lesson plans and assessments for the residential curriculum.
Utilize multiple educational strategies and theories to aid in student learning and development.
Build collaborative relationships with campus partners, including, but not limited to, Counseling & Well-Being, Campus Police, Risk Management, Dining, and Student Conduct.
Serve an integral role in recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating student staff, including resident assistants and student desk workers.
Advise one of two Housing student organizations (Housing Activities Council or National Residence Hall Honorary).
Promptly and appropriately address student conduct issues and behavioral concerns.
Serve on an emergency on-call team rotation for the residence halls.
Conduct overall administration and operations of a 290-450+ bed residence hall.
Foster relationships among the Housing & Dining department by serving on committees and supporting initiatives.
Assist with summer conferences/projects.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional duties include overseeing residents’ academic support, student staff supervision, facilities management, student conduct, and crisis intervention. The Hall Director also develops and maintains relationships among residential students, their families, various campus departments, community partners, and vendors.
This is a 12-month, full-time, live-in position that includes a furnished apartment, choice of meal plan, and full university benefits, including medical, retirement, paid time off, a paid parking space, and tuition benefits. Hall Directors are allowed one pet that is less than 35 pounds. The position reports to the Assistant Director for Residence Life.
Requires a bachelor's degree in related field or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in chosen filed that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.
Residence Life experience as an undergraduate or graduate resident assistant (or equivalent), or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Graduate-level experience supervising student staff and/or advising student organizations is strongly preferred.
Experience with development and/or implementation of student learning initiatives, including a residential curriculum, living learning communities, or teaching.

Currently hold or be actively pursuing a Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Development, Student Affairs, or closely related field.
Demonstrated abilities in all areas of residence life that include: conflict management skills, giving and receiving feedback, time management, and student staff training and supervision.
Demonstrated analytical, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Must possess an enthusiasm to work with diverse student populations. Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with others. Decision and problem solving skills. Must meet physical demand of position which includes the ability to move through an 8-story residence hall regularly without the use of an elevator.
