    College/Department Overview

    This position serves as a graduate assistant working with the International Student Activities and the UCO International House.  This will provide accounting and programming of various international programs through the Office of Global Affairs (OGA). 

    Position Overview

    The Graduate Assistant (GA) is a 20 hour per week graduate assistantship. The primary responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant are largely based on the specific duties from a college or division. The position will apply theory to practice for the specific office or area in which the position is housed. The Assistantship shall be for the academic year (10 month position), with the opportunity to continue for the following academic year if agreeable to the supervisor and the Graduate Assistant. GA positions are academic and should include significant mentoring and professional development. Graduate assistant should be considered part-time professionals in the field and given projects reflective of that role. Individual may not hold other employment on campus without prior permission from college or division and HR.

    Department Specific Essential Job Functions

    Serve as an Additional ISC Advisor.
    Serve as After Hours Chaperone when needed.
    Assist with Budget Work.
    Assistance with International House Email Correspondence.
    Monitor International House events when necessary.
    Present International Programming in Classes.
    Oversee International Pageant.
    Oversee Homecoming Parade.
    Plan one Bridges event each semester.
    Grow the Ignite Program.
    Assist with growing the SPICE program.
    Assist with international programming recruitment.
    Assist with International House Fundraising Event.
    Assist with execution of International Festival.
    Assist with International Orientation and Airport Pickups.
    Serve on scholarship selection committee.
    Assists with the MERGE program.
    Assists with moving PA system.

    Qualifications/Experience Required

    Preference will be given to students enrolled through the University of Central Oklahoma's Graduate College in pursuit of a Master's Degree in a related field. ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate.     Qualifications/Experience Preferred

    Experience with accounting records, responding to e-mails and working with international programming responsibilities, highly preferred.  Fund-raising experience needed. 


    Accounting, record keeping a plus.  Programming of various programs in the international field a definite plus. 

    Physical Demands

    Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
