Perform computer and customer service related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, scheduling appointments, and Microsoft Office experience.
The College of Fine Arts and Design Gallery Assistant position is designed for students with an interest in the arts, design, and exhibitions. Gallery Assistants will be responsible for sitting the gallery during regular business hours, monitor an opening during the day or evening, including set up and take down of chairs, tables, and other equipment, assisting the artist in whatever means necessary. These tasks may include: lifting and moving of objects, installing and hanging material, moving pedestals, patch and paint, printing and hanging wall text and labels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following:
Melton Gallery Attendant:
Greet and answer any questions from guests.
Track daily attendance.
Maintain general cleanliness of gallery space.
Complete accurate timesheet and submit for approval in a timely manner.
Research information on Melton Gallery artists, UCO student organizations, and OKC Metro art organizations.
Create contact sheets of artists and community partners.
Manage Melton social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
Post fliers of events and programming around campus bulletin boards.
Help set-up and tear down for gallery openings and Thursday evening programs.
Provide assistance for installations and de-installations.
Other duties as deemed necessary.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate. Students majoring in art, design, theater, dance, and music preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills, and basic interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to visitors.
Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
Computer Literacy I General Office Equipment:
Microsoft Word and Excel are a plus.
Ability to operate facsimile, scanning, and copy machines.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
