  • College/Department Overview

    The Jackson College of Graduate Studies (JCGS) is dedicated to providing leadership and support in the development of high quality graduate programs to serve the needs of students, faculty and the university community as they compete in a global society. The JCGS serves a unique function at UCO in its support for and coordination of graduate studies as well as creative and scholarly activities.

    The JCGS collaborates with our five UCO academic colleges and the Forensic Science Institute in offering 6 Master's degrees covering 40 graduate degree programs and over 70 different major areas of study serving over 1,600 graduate students. In 2014, UCO celebrated its 60th year of offering graduate studies.

    Position Overview

    Handles department specific data, reports and/or communication for department or division. Gathers, inputs, analyzes, and reports data in appropriate formats and disseminates the information to leadership. Creates, maintains, archives, and manages databases, spreadsheets and/or reports. Collect statistical data to help forecast. Responsible for the quality and data integrity of information. Research and recommend technology changes or upgrades. Provides training for end users. May be responsible for department webpage maintenance, modification and additional features. Assist project manager in the coordination and completion of projects. Provide administrative and technical support such as scheduling, preparing presentations, monitoring time lines and budgets, and acting as liaisons to various departments and organizations. Communicate any issues, problems, or additional information to leadership or project managers and recommend solutions. Monitor and evaluate project/process activity and report on progress or issues to project managers.

    Department Specific Essential Job Functions

    Coordinate marketing, communication, events, and promotional activities for units and initiatives associated with the Graduate College, while reporting directly to the Dean. Complete duties, which include: research, design, implement, and evaluate marketing activities; determine appropriate strategies for branding the units and initiatives in the College; coordinate documents and promotional activities for BELL and Swansea initiatives; design and prepare conceptual ideas consistent with communication strategy; format, import, gather, organize, analyze, and process marketing information into reports, databases, and spreadsheets; collect statistical data to help forecast, analyze, and evaluate the performance of marketing activities; oversee, coordinate, and work out technical aspects of processes; coordinate mailings, communication plans, events, social media, CRM activities, and other projects; work collaboratively with other units in using the CRM for recruitment activities and relationship building; provide technical assistance and coordination to support web page maintenance, modifications, and planning; provide creative input on website design, marketing, and advertising; maintains social media presence and brand-building campaigns; produces viable visual and audio products which engage and inform potential graduate students; may assist with marketing and communication budgets; performs other related duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications/Experience Required

    Requires a university degree in related field or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in chosen filed that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

    Qualifications/Experience Preferred

    Prior experience working with Banner. Budget experience. Web Design experience. Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Ellucian Recruit, Photoshop Extended and Microsoft Office Product. Preferred knowledge in Illustrator and HTML Coding.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent etiquette, interpersonal, and thoughtful personal interaction skills. Ability to work effectively independently and as a contributor to team efforts. High-level critical thinking skills.  Excellent proofing and editing skills. Skilled at organizing projects, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and dealing effectively with confidential or sensitive information. Must be a self-starter and easily motivated to accomplish great work each day with minimal guidance. Demonstrated training and/or experience in graphic design. Demonstrated knowledge of standard and innovative software packages which can promote the interests of UCO graduate education. Demonstrated teamwork in the development of websites and media materials. Commitment to quality productions. Maintain a customer-service attitude. Continually updates skills and knowledge relative to the position.

    Physical Demands
