    Position Overview

    The Graduate Assistant (GA) is a 20 hour per week graduate assistantship. The primary responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant are largely based on the specific duties from a college or division. The position will apply theory to practice for the specific office or area in which the position is housed. The Assistantship shall be for the academic year (10 month position), with the opportunity to continue for the following academic year if agreeable to the supervisor and the Graduate Assistant. GA positions are academic and should include significant mentoring and professional development. Graduate assistant should be considered part-time professionals in the field and given projects reflective of that role. Individual may not hold other employment on campus without prior permission from college or division and HR.

    Department Specific Essential Job Functions

    Coordinate application flow and forward applications to MSBA Admission Committee. Create folders on shared drive and move documents accordingly. Keep track of application decisions and outstanding applications. Send reminders to committee members. Communicate with the Graduate College to get questions answered or follow up on issues. Communicate with the Global Affairs office regarding students with Visa or enrollment problems to prepare for Fall and Spring intake of international students. Follow up with faculty members regarding permission to enroll in classes outside the business college. Communicate to MSBA students regarding enrollment and schedule before enrollment begins for the next semester.


    Run reports. Run Discover report for MSBA and MBA. Check and track student enrollment. Track admission decisions and enrollment. Run Discover reports for AACSB report. Update spreadsheet and/or run reports to aid enrollment plannin.


    Help with MBA/MSBA events as schedule permits. Communicate with MSBA students regarding scheduled events and announcements.

    Qualifications/Experience Required

    Preference will be given to students enrolled through the University of Central Oklahoma's Graduate College in pursuit of a Master's Degree in a related field. ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate.     Qualifications/Experience Preferred

    Master's student at UCO. 


    Microsoft Office experience a must.

    Physical Demands

    Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
