    College/Department Overview

    The Office of Information Technology supports a large division that provides computing, networking, e-learning, and support services for the University community. The Multimedia Specialist assists with all aspects of technology training and supports the Multimedia Services department, a division of the Office of Information Technology.

    Position Overview

    Perform computer and customer service related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, scheduling appointments, and Microsoft Office experience.

    Department Specific Essential Job Functions

    The position assists the technology staff in providing a high level of customer service to faculty, staff, and students at UCO. Assist with multimedia requests, set up audio visual equipment for presentations, troubleshoot and maintain multimedia equipment across campus. Assist staff with audio visual equipment and check out program and streaming media services. Assist Technology Trainers with room setup for training classes. Light cleaning duties, as assigned.

    Qualifications/Experience Required

    ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS: Fall/Spring Semesters All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester Undergraduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in 6 hours to work on campus and Graduate Work-Study students must be enrolled in at least 5 hours. All other students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours to work on campus. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but will be required to pay FICA taxes. If the number of hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum hours required to work, the student must obtain a letter from his/her advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate.     Qualifications/Experience Preferred

    The desired candidate must be responsible and reliable. Experience in delivering high quality customer service that includes a grasp on professional communication and telephone etiquette. Familiar with Apple Final Cut and other video editing and encoding/transcoding software. The candidate should have experience with AV equipment such as laptops, projectors, cameras, tripods, microphones, PA systems, etc.


    Candidate must have knowledge of administrative and clerical systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.


    Some knowledge in audio visual technology and multimedia applications.

    Physical Demands

    Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
